چکیده

Herbicide, Inhibition, Photosynthetic Electron Transport, Trifluralin, Thermoluminescence The effect of trifluralin on the photosynthetic electron transport has been investigated by oxygen evolution and thermoluminescence measurements. The results confirm the earlier observations that trifluralin at low concentrations blocks electron transport between the two photosystems probably at the same site as DBMIB does. At higher concentrations however, trifluralin inhibits the reaction from H aO -*■ /?BQ also and affects the thermoluminescence of chloroplasts in a manner similar to DCMU. These results suggest that trifluralin has a second inhibitory site therefore the use of trifluralin as a specific inhibitor of electron transport has to be questioned.

Inhibition of chloroplast electron transport reactions by trifluralin and diallate.

The herbicides trifluralin (alpha,alpha,alpha-trifluoro-2,6-dinitro-N, N-dipropyl-p-toluidine) and diallate (S-[2,3-dichloroallyl] diisopropylthiocarbamate) inhibit electron transport, ATP synthesis, and cytochrome f reduction by isolated spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) chloroplasts. Both compounds inhibit noncyclic electron transport from H(2)O to ferricyanide more than 90% in coupled chloropla...

Interactions of Herbicides with Photosynthetic Electron Transport

The two primary sites of herbicide action in photosynthetic electron transport are the inhibition of photosystem II (PS II) electron transport and diversion of electron flow through photosystem I (PS I). PS II electron transport inhibitors bind to the DI protein of the PS II reaction center, thus blocking electron transfer to plastoquinone. Inhibition of PS II electron transport prevents the co...

The effect of magnetized water on the growth and some biochemical parameters of squash (Cucurbita pepo) plants under toxicity of herbicide trifluralin

To investigate the effect of herbicide Trifluralin and the role of magnetized water on enzymatic activities and content of proline and growth substances including gibberellin (GA3) and cytokinin (6- benzyl amino purine), an experiment was conducted using squash (Cucurbita pepo L. var. Shiraz Hybrid F1) seedlings. Four levels of trifluralin (0, 5, 15 and 25 ppm) and irrigation by distilled and m...

The Effects of Trifluralin on LH, FSH and Testosterone Hormone Levels and Testis Histological Changes in Adult Rats

Background Trifluralin is a herbicide and used in agriculture widely. It enters plants through developing roots and stops plant cells from division and elongation (meristemic inhibitor). Extensive application of trifluralin to control annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in agriculture, horticulture and horn garden, leads to environmental pollution and its entrance into the food chain could have ...
